Who is the main character really?

In many narrative podcasts focus on a central question: who is the main character really? And how does our view of them develop as the story unfolds? In this talk, Chloe Hadjimatheou draws on four of her own investigative series, Lucky Boy, The Gas Man, The Walkers and We Call Her Emma, to look at how structure is shaped by access - or lack of access - to a central character. She also looks at how the narrator’s own view of a character shifts over the course of a series, and how a good narrative also tracks the changes in the way a central character sees themselves too. Expect candid stories about chasing reluctant interviewees, and what you owe the people whose stories you are telling.
